City Innovation Manager and founder of the Smart Belfast Programme, Deborah works with government, universities and industry on an extensive innovation agenda with the aim of growing Belfast’s economy and tackling urban challenges. She has led several successful bids including phase one of the £130 million bid for digital infrastructure that includes a new Smart District and urban sand-box in the heart of the city.
With many years’ experience in the Public Sector, and in her previous role as BCC Digital Portfolio Manager, Deborah led the development of the Digital and transformation Strategy, oversaw end to end software engineering processes in a large IT department and delivered significant business transformation and organizational change programmes across Council departments and services.
Deborah is a member of many panels and boards including a recent appointment to the UK Government Expert Advisory group on Smart Cities/Connected Places (DCMS), the UK Government’s BSI Cities Standards Board, G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance, World Economic Forum programme board, the NI Open Data Board and All Ireland Smart Cities Board.
When relaxing she can be found with her guitar in hand, singing with the Belfast Gospel Community Choir and swimming in the open sea –but not all at once of course!
